When it comes to guiding your business in a profitable direction, I offer straight shooting, to the point, what not-to-do, creative consulting.

My experience owning and operating two successful Calgary businesses for over a decade has led me to a place where my entrepreneurial spirit can offer creative solutions to day-to-day business challenges. Forget the box, my ideas will challenge you to take on your business with enthusiasm and freedom. Marketing ideas and realistic advice from someone who understands just how tight the purse can be, but also how important making a stunning impression is.

 

UNDER PROMISE. OVER DELIVER!

… this is one of the many guiding tidbits I took from working for a business Guru, Brad Zumwalt, back in my early design and photography days. Brad founded many hugely successful companies in the e-commerce digital content world, and he was an inspiration to work for. His connective and above board, full disclosure leadership (along with some juicy stock options) drove me to chase after the entrepreneurial dream myself.

I bought my family business, the business I knew like the back of my hand, the business I had an on-again off-again love affair with my entire teenage life. I was the ripe age of 20 when I took over the cookie shop, a retail store in a prime location that specialized in corporate gifts in a booming oil town. That cookie shop was the beginning of my passion for business branding (or re-branding as it became). After a couple years of the school of hard knocks, increasing profit margins, and re-branding, rebuilding and marketing my pants off, I was eager for a new challenge. I built a wholesale organic bakery, decked out with a commercial kitchen more than eight times bigger than my retail bakery. My passion was organic food (a slowly developing niche back then) and I saw a need in my current market for special dietary foods; vegan and gluten-free treats, and real organic snack foods with ingredients I could feel good about using. To say I was ahead of the curve would be an understatement… I remember pitching gluten-free cookies to major grocery stores and having bakery managers inquire as to why I would want to bake a wheat-free cookie and what a Celiac was! Fast forward 10 years and everyone has a friend with wheat intolerance; in fact it’s the fasted growing diagnosis around!

I feel really fortunate to have come across another pinnacle mentor in my business career, Martin Park, an award winning and fabulously inspiring business coach who donated his services to me for over 3 years through the Canadian Youth Business Foundation. CYBF funded my new start-up venture and supported me with tons of media opportunities. Eventually I paid off my loan and became a spokesperson for them, offering inspiration and entrepreneurial support to other young people, honing my media skills and confidence.

After several years of flying cross-country time and time again to sell my organic goods to beautiful specialty and natural food stores from coast to coast, I grew tired of the city life and was craving a deeper connection to the food that I was so passionate about. So I packed up my family, sold my businesses and set out for a life of farming and permaculture design… but not before growing an early and loyal following of business owners looking for advice and help with everything from start-up support, business plan writing, marketing, graphic design, and coaching.

Now I live rurally, and when I’m not in the garden, canning food, hauling wood and collecting eggs, I’m thrilled to be working with amazing business owners, building their brand + making their business look beautiful!
